’You can be a feminist and a Bond girl’: Naomie Harris flashes a hint of sideboob in striking scarlet gown as she laments lack of serious roles for women in Hollywood

Naomie Harris believes it is possible to be both a feminist and a Bond girl as she reveals there has been a shift in how female characters are portrayed in Hollywood.
In an exclusive interview with Cosmopolitan, the 39-year-old, who is about to reprise her role of Eve Moneypenny in Spectre, discusses the lack of amazing roles for women in Hollywood.
‘I think you absolutely can now [be a feminist and a Bond girl], she told the publication
Sam [Mendes, director], loves strong multidimensional woman; that’s incredibly important to him. ‘Barbara Broccoli [daughter of original Bond producer Albert] is at the helm of the franchise too, and she’s a strong woman who has a big say in how the characters are developed.

‘You can see that in Spectre – Monica Bellucci’s character is incredible feisty, and rejects Bond’s help. She’s like “I can do this on my own!”
She’s the newest Bond Girl and a fierce one at that, and Naomie Harris shows a racy side in a shoot for the latest issue of Cosmopolitan, out tomorrow.
As the cover star for this month’s issue, Naomie smoulders in a series of revealing and provocative red gowns, and we reckon this is the best colour for her as she looks gorgeous. Our favourite outfit has to be the red cut out maxi dress with front split and we’ve tracked it down so you too can look this good. It’s from Solace London and available to buy in three different colours on their website (just click the link to the right to purchase). We love the unusual cut out detail to the top, making it almost appear like a skirt and top rather than a dress.
For more cut out dresses in this stand out red hue, then shop the links below. Our top pick has to be the WOW Couture fishtail dress which would make the ultimate statement at your next big event. To channel Naomie’s look, keep your accessories pared back and let the dress do the talking

However, the star reveals that there is a lack of serious film roles for women in the industry.
‘You might get four scripts and think “Oh, OK.” It’s very difficult to find roles as well-written as male ones, and with as much screen time.
‘Then there’s one amazing script that sparks your imagination, and gets you really excited. They are there, it’s just they’re mostly dominated by male roles…’

Adding: ‘I definitely think it’s tougher for women in film, but then I look at Meryl Streep, and… I thought there would be other actresses breaking through. I’m sure there are.
‘Jennifer Aniston, I guess? But she’s comedic. Erm… yeah, perhaps there is a glass ceiling. I’m really struggling to think of women who can consistently open movies.
‘OK, Reese Witherspoon! There are women doing it, but yeah, it’s harder.’
Naomie’s comments follow those of fellow actress Marion Cotillard who recently said: ‘Film-making is not about gender. For me, it doesn’t create equality, it creates separation.
‘I mean, I don’t qualify myself as a feminist. We need to fight for women’s rights, but I don’t want to separate women from men.’
Meanwhile, Naomie also spoke about motherhood and revealed her friends often question when it will happen for her.
‘I’m nearly 40,’ she said. ‘So lots of my friends are like, “I have to get married and have a baby”; they’re freaking out. I just think, “What will be will be.”
‘Everyone tries to drag me in with them; it’s almost like they’re trying to scare me that I haven’t ticked those boxes yet.’
